Varicose Veins are enlarged, congested veins caused by inadequate venous valves. In the leg veins, the blood must flow upward to the heart, against gravity. To prevent the blood from flowing back down, leg veins have one-way valves. Over time or during periods of prolonged sitting or standing, these valves can fail to close properly. This can cause the blood to pool and the pressure in the veins to increase. The pressure may cause the vein to weaken and stretch. The blood pooling in the enlarged vein produces the bulging and twisting characteristic of varicose veins.
Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT®)EVLT is a procedure used to close the larger veins from the inside using laser technology. EVLT® is up to 98% effective.
Spider Veins are tiny blue, red or purple veins. They appear on the surface of the skin in a spider web formation. Spider Veins are typically found on the thighs, calves or ankle.
SclerotherapySclerotherapy is a common procedure used to reduce the appearance of spider veins
